Simple Viewer Skin Interface Simple Viewer Skin Interface:

This is the interface that will allow you to change the layout and colors of your Simple Viewer album.

  • "Album Title" - Self explanitory
  • "Background Image Path" - This is an image that can be placed behind your album.
    • Every time you create an album you can specify a new background image and as long as you don't recreate the previous albums your past background images will remain.
    • You can place an image with the same name in each album and use "slides/background.jpg" to have these images show up as the background in each album you create.
    • You can specify a picture by path and name, i.e. photofolder/imagename.jpg or you can specify the full html link, i.e. http://www.yoursite.com/imagename.jpg

Simple Viewer Color Chooser

Color Chooser:
  • Background - Self explanitory, the background image will overwrite this value in the album window but the menu window will retain this value.
  • Text - This value will specify the text color within the album window.
  • Frame - Specifies the color of the frame around the picture and thumbnails.
  • Menu (rollover, selected) - The menu value is the text within the menu frame.  3 values for the 1) The Text 2) The Text when the mouse hovers over it & 3) The Text when that text is selected
  • Predefined Style - Presently there is only 1 predefined style to choos from in th drop down but I hope to add more later.

Simple Viewer Options Menu Options:
  • Show Label - Selectable: exif info, comments, none
    • exif info - displays the exif info, if any, saved with the photo.
    • comments - displays user defined comments editably by double clicking the photos in your album from within JAlbum.
    • none - leaves the comment area of the album blank.
  • add number of photos - if checked this adds the number of photos in each album to the right of the name of that album within the menu frame.  i.e. if the album named vacation has 12 photos in it the menu link for the vacation album will show "vacation | 12".
  • Frame width - Changes the width of the frame around the photos and thumbnails.  Select "0" if you do not wish to have a frame.
  • Stage padding - changes the amount of space between the thumbnails and the viewed photo.
  • Menu width - changes the width of the menu frame.  The user can modify this width to fit their screen by mousing over, clicking and dragging the frame border.

Simple Viewer Thumbnail Options

Thumbnails:
  • Position - Selectable: Left, Right, Top, Bottom - determines the location of the thumbnails reletive to the viewed photo.
  • Direction - Selectable: LTR (Left to Right), RTL (Right to Left) - I'm not sure what this one does.
  • Columns - Defines the number of columns of thumbnails on the screen.
  • Rows - Defines the number of rows of thumbnails on the screen.
Other Items to Consider: Some of the JAlbum tabs have to be properly configured for Simple Viewer to work its best.
JAlbum Navigation Tab Navigation:

In the Navigation settings there are several options to choose from and certain ways that Simple Viewer will interact with these settings.

  • Link to originals - This option does not work.  If you wis to link to full resolution images use the "Link to originals via scaled images" box (see below).
  • Link to originals via scaled images - This option does not work in Simple Viewer the way you might expect from using other skins.  You can not click on a scaled down image to get the full resolution version.  Selecting this option will place a link in the comments section of your album.  The link will simply say "Zoom".  Clicking the link will open a new window with the photo shown at full resolution.  If you want to link to original photos you must also select "copy originals" which will become selectable after "Link to origninals via scaled images" is selected.
  • Make Slides - You do not need to check this box to make simple viewer work.  Leave it un-checked.
JAlbum Advanced Tab Advanced:
  • Ignore pattern - Simple Viewer will only work with .jpg and .swf files.  Others will not work.  If you find you are having trouble getting the album to build and you have movie files in your directories you may want to try including the extensions of the movie files in the "ignore pattern" to ensure that those files are not processed.
  • Use thumbnail for folder icon - This feature will not affect the appearance of albums created with Simple Viewer.  Folders are linked from the menu tree.
